Why pressure washer release evidence matters now
On August 20, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 2,200 Workbless electric pressure washers sold in the United States. CPSC said models WB0301 and WB0302 lacked an integral ground-fault circuit-interrupter and an adequate-length power cord, creating shock and electrocution hazards. The notice identified a China private labeler and China manufacture and reported no incidents or injuries.
Health Canada published the coordinated recall for another 657 units and identified the China distributor and manufacturer. Its notice states that the cord was too short and could encourage extension-cord use. The two records describe the same recalled models; they are useful for cross-checking product identity and public facts, not two independent defect events.
A broader current pattern supports the buyer decision. CPSC recalled SUGIFT and COMMOWNER pressure washers on August 13, 2026 for the same cited missing-GFCI and short-cord problem. Earlier April actions covered BAYOTAK pressure washers and a SEN-QII warning involving missing integral protection. These records do not prove every China-made pressure washer has the same defect, but they make GFCI, cord, exact-model, and evidence control a current pre-shipment release node.

Where does inspection stop and qualified testing begin?
GFCI trip current and time, leakage current, dielectric strength, grounding continuity, insulation systems, water ingress, abnormal operation, temperature rise, pressure endurance, hose burst, spray-gun strength, durability, and other safety or compliance assessments can require defined conditioning, fixtures, calibrated instruments, repetitions, protective facilities, competent operators, and formal interpretation. Those tasks belong with qualified laboratories, engineers, and responsible compliance parties.
An inspector should not bypass the GFCI, alter the cord, open sealed live parts, defeat interlocks, spray an energized electrical connection, ground through a person, raise pressure beyond an approved method, or improvise shock, leakage-current, dielectric, ingress, endurance, or burst tests. A factory demonstration is not evidence merely because the product runs and water exits the nozzle.
A passed sampled inspection supports a buyer decision only within its stated scope.
